Most people have heard of the benefits of Rosemary Hair Oil being good for your hair but did you know that it is also so easy to make at home? This helps to remove all of the unwanted ingredients that manufacturers will add to premade oils. I love to make items that are good for my body but also for my health.
Benefits and How to Use:
Rosemary oil helps to stimulate hair growth due to the increase of blood flow to the scalp. It also helps to prevent premature greying, reduce dandruff and helps with dry and itchy scalp.
This oil also smells amazing!
To use, put a few droppers full throughout your hair 30 minutes to 2 hours before showering. Massage it into your scalp, and pull your hair up into a bun or a clip and let it do its magic. After your chosen amount of time, wash out in the shower. I also like to put some at the ends of my hair if it ever starts to feel a little dry before wash day.
Ingredient:
1 cup Cold-Pressed Castor Oil
1 cup MCT Oil
1.5 cups Dried Rosemary Leaves
2 tsp Vitamin E Oil
Thermometer
Cheesecloth
PLEASE NOTE: This recipe makes 6 – 2 oz Dropper Bottles
How to Make:
Get a double boiler set up ready- if you don’t have a double boiler then you can do what I did and use two pots.
First Start by mixing the Caster Oil, MCT Oil, Dried Rosemary Leaves and Vitamin E Oil together in one of the pots.
Next, fill up the second pot full of water and put it underneath the pot with the ingredients.
Bring the water to a small simmer. You will want to stir consistently and check the temperature frequently. You don’t want to bring the temperature any higher than 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Any hotter will degrade the quality of the oil and herbs.
Keep on the stove from 30 minutes up to 6 hours. For my recipe, I did 4 hours. I found this was the time that allowed me to keep the temperature consistent but also wouldn’t cause the oils and the rosemary leaves to separate.
Once you are done, remove from heat and strain your liquid through a cheesecloth. This will help to catch any rosemary leaves from getting into your oil. You may need to strain it a couple of times for it to catch everything.
After straining, put into the container of choice. Make sure to use a container that can be sealed tightly. Keep in a dry, cool place.
I hope that you try this recipe and that it helps to thicken and strengthen your hair like it has mine.
Cheers! ♥
