It’s That Time
It’s that time of year again where people get the sniffles, the body aches and the fevers. This amazing home remedy is perfect for those sore throat days. Great for an immune boost, to get nice and warm and to start feeling like a human being again after feeling down in the dumps. This is my Sick Day Remedy- Tea Time!
1) Let’s Get Started
First- let’s get to know our ingredients just a little bit better.
Onions – Yes, you heard that right! Onions are packed full of nutrients, being very high in fiber, vitamins and minerals. They are loaded with antioxidants and antibacterial properties. They are also a good source of vitamin C.
Ginger – an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and an antibacterial. Ginger is great at helping with fevers, headaches, bronchitis, chest colds and pneumonia.
Honey – not just a deliciously sweet treat but also and antioxidant, anti-inflamatorry and an antibacterial. Honey is great for helping to sooth a sore throat and contains 31 amazing minerals such as phosphorus, calcium and magnesium.
2) How to Make
When I make this tea I use half of an onion per person I am making it for. In this recipe I am making it for 4 people.
Take 2 onions and peel of outer layer and cut into fourths.
Next peel your ginger and use as much as you like! I usually use an inch of ginger root per person.
Once you are done with that put both the onions and the ginger into a large pot.
Pour 2-3 tbsp of honey into the pot over the onion and ginger.
Fill up the pot with water, as much as needed per people you are serving.
Place onto the stove and bring to a boil. Once boiling leave on the stove for about 20 minutes or until the onions are translucent.
Once done serve to your family and drink to your hearts content!
I have used this every years since 2020 and it has helped substantially in reducing sick time as well as reducing getting sick at all. I use this as a preventative just as much as I use it as a treatment of our sicknesses.
Grab your cups and your loved ones and brew a nice cup of Sick Day Remedy Tea.
Cheers!
